“The Ice Viking” Arni Isaksson has agreed to fill in for Cathal Pendred and fight Chris Brennan.
The news of the change was confirmed by Cage Contender promoter John Ferguson.
Chris “The Westside Strangler” Brennan (19-13-1) is a fifteen-year veteran of the sport and made his UFC debut in 1998 at UFC 16 in the welterweight (then named lightweight) tournament, making it to the finals only to be beaten by Pat Miletich.
Brennan, who hasn’t fought for two years, holds some huge wins over the likes of Joe Stevenson, Antonio McKee, Thomas Denny and Shannon Rich.
A veteran of mixed martial arts for six years, Arni “The Ice Viking” Isaksson (11-4-0) has fought at Cage Contender before, defeating Ronan McKay with a third round arm-triangle choke.
Isaksson who is current PRO FC world Champion also hold some excellent wins of Dennis Siver, Greg Loughran, Peter Angerer and Paul Jenkins. He lost his last fight against Gael Grimaud for the vacant Cage Warriors welterweight title.
Chris Brennan was originally booked to face Cathal Pendred, who has received an injury. The fight has now been rearranged for the Summer. John Ferguson is happy with the signing of Isaksson.
“Arni Isaksson is yet another quality fighter and we are very happy to have him back on Cage Contender.” Ferguson said, “We aim to give our fans what they want and they wanted to see Isaksson return. The fight with Brennan will be fantastic.”
Cage Contender 12 takes place at the National Arena in Dublin, Ireland on February 25th. The fight between Pendred and Brennan will headline the event.
